30 Seconds to Mars and Anberlin

CB7, Anberlin and 30 Seconds to Mars Concert
April 12, 2011

Of the venues in the Colorado Springs area the Colorado City Auditorium has got to be one of the best available.  With various levels of seating available in a relatively small location it makes for a great experience regardless of where you’re at.
It was clear that there is a definite following for these bands based on the line that stretched city blocks.   Once the doors opened the fun ensued.  As is common, security searched concert goers until an unexpected evacuation of the building stopped the process.  The thing that was curious was that it didn’t seem to be a full out evacuation rather an excuse to get people out of the main portion of the auditorium for reasons unknown.
Once everything had cleared, CB7 hit the stage.  Unfortunately due to some access issues I was only able to view their portion from the lobby.  It wasn’t until after their last song that I was in the auditorium.  Next band to perform was Anberlin.  Prior to them taking the stage the manager for 30 STM made an announcement that the drummer, Shannon, would not be there but the band was still going to play.
Anberlin did an excellent job covering 7 of their songs.  This helped in keeping the crowd amped up for a night of live music.
Anberlin’s setlist included:
·         Godspeed
·         We owe this to ourselves
·         Paperthin Hymn
·         Impossible
·         Pray Tell
·         Closer
·         Feel Good Drag
After a seemingly long intermission 30 STM came on stage.  It is a good thing because it was quite apparent that a lot of the fans were growing inpatient.  Understandably there is equipment that needs to be setup, however it was an hour or more from the time Anberlin left the stage until 30 STM came on.  Once they got started the crowd rewarded them with a great deal of enthusiasm.
30 Seconds to Mars setlist included:
  • Escape
  • Night of the Hunter
  • Attack
  • Search and Destroy
  • This Is War
  • 100 Suns
  • Vox Populi
  • L490
  • From Yesterday
  • Was It A Dream
  • Hurricane
  • The Kill
  • Closer to the Edge
Encore
  • Kings and Queens
